In Washington DC, patients of L’Enfant Plaza Dental Arts and Drs. Norkiewicz, Azeez and Konigsberg can enjoy a long list of general, restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments. Among them are Invisalign, a type of clear braces that covertly straighten the teeth using an innovative solution. If you have never heard of them, or wish to learn more, enjoy these Invisalign FAQs.
What is Invisalign? Is it just clear braces?
While many mistakenly call them clear braces, Invisalign are clear trays that slide over your teeth. They are machine designed to your specifications, and when used properly will slowly and comfortably straighten your teeth, bringing them into perfect alignment, and all without anyone noticing you are wearing them.

How do you actually do the treatment?
That is one of the most significant issues for Invisalign FAQs. The treatment begins with a visit to our office. We have to ensure you are a candidate for Invisalign, and if you are we then take specific molds and measurements and send them to a specialized lab. They use computer programs to design a set of aligners that will slowly bring your teeth to the optimal positions.
The aligners are worn for roughly two weeks each and then you move on to the next in the series. Some patients need only a single set of aligners, but others may need multiple sets.
How long does it take?
The process is not the same for all patients, and some see the process completed in under a year. Others may require up to two years for the entire process to be finished. You will also need to rely on retainers to hold your teeth in proper position, and as your dentist in Washington DC, we will have to review the length of time you will require such aftercare.
Can I eat with them in?
This is another important point in the Invisalign FAQs because eating and drinking are the only times you won’t wear the aligners. They should not be out of the mouth for more than two hours in any 24-hour period. Doing so slows the process and can allow the teeth to begin to return to an unwanted position.
