Am I a Candidate for Invisalign®?
As recently as the latter part of the 20th century, having your teeth straightened meant metal braces, rubber bands, and sometimes even headgear. Your only choice, other than metal braces, was to live with your crooked teeth or bad bite. Today, though, there are other options that are considerably less unsightly. You might be a candidate for Invisalign® clear braces, for instance.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Metal Braces
Metal braces still have their place in modern orthodontics. For one thing, they are still highly effective. For another, they are less expensive than other types of braces.
As to disadvantages, the most obvious is the effect they have on your appearance. Teens especially can find the look of metal braces more than enough to stop them from smiling. They can also mean having to forego certain foods for the duration of treatment – hard foods can damage braces, or cause them to loosen. And finally, it is not easy keeping your teeth clean when you wear metal braces.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Invisalign
Unless your dentist tells you that your bite problem will only respond effectively to metal braces, you could be a candidate for Invisalign. There are a number of advantages to clear braces. If you are a candidate for Invisalign, you will not have to worry about giving up certain foods, because you take your clear aligners out when you eat. Then you brush and floss, and put them back in.
As you could no doubt tell from the name, the other advantage that will be very pleasing to a candidate for Invisalign is that the braces are practically invisible.
The down side to Invisalign clear braces is that they are more expensive than metal braces. They also will not work on all dental issues. You will need to talk with your dentist and have an evaluation done to find out if you are a good candidate for Invisalign.
